Design & Construction AWARDS

Design Awards

Awards in this industry are not client judging. They are peer judging, which makes them useful for a different reason.

Building Design Queensland (BDQ) awards are decided by other building designers. They assess the drawings and the documentation alongside the finished house: whether the design actually solved the site, whether the detailing holds up, and whether the plans meet the standard the profession expects of itself. It is the closest thing to a peer review that residential design has.

Rufus Design Group won at BDQ regional level every year from 2014 to 2019, including a state commendation in 2015. The categories run from new houses in the $500,000 range through to homes over $3 million, plus alterations and additions and heritage design. The record below also includes Master Builders Queensland (MBQ) recognition.

Trevor Rufus now serves as a BDQ judge, which means he spends part of the year assessing other practices against that same standard.
